The Associate Field Service Engineer is responsible for conducting service, repair and/or installation of products or IT solutions at customer site, including electrical and mechanical testing, in accordance with maintenance contracts.  Diagnoses system failures and determines most cost-effective solution.


This position is part of the Field Technical Service, Region 9, located in Boston, MA and this position will be remote.  The territory covers: Cambridge, Maine and primarily the greater Boston, MA, vicinity. 

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop knowledge of applicable products, customer support, and technical skills vital to perform high-quality preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of instruments.
  • Mentors or assists with preventative maintenance, installation, and repairs, and independently as ability improves.
  • Diagnoses system failures and determines most cost-effective solution.  Escalates complex issues to greater level of technical support or quality reporting system.
  • May develop new customer service/product agreements. Responds to customer support calls within an assigned territory.
  • Completes administration duties (logging service activities, expense reporting, inventory).
  • Learn and troubleshoot and implement problem-solving procedures.


The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Preferred Associate’s degree (A.S./A.A.S) or Bachelor's degree (B.S./B.A.) and ideal if majored in Life Sciences, Chemistry, or Engineering.  3+ years’ experience required.
  • Maintain valid Driver's License and Meet Vendor Credentialing requirements.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%+ domestic travel by vehicle to customer’s sites.  Some overnight travel by airplane is required for training.
  • Move equipment up to 50 lbs.

 

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Preferred background in Mechanical and/or Science background. 
  • Experience in trouble shooting procedures and providing quality Customer Service.
  • Exposed to moving parts and electricity that require safety protocols.
