Your Responsibilities:
As a Software Systems Engineer for John Deere located in Dubuque, IA you will....
- Analyze customer needs and marketing requirements to determine software specifications for new and innovative features and systems.
- Utilize enterprise and divisional processes to capture requirements and architecture using software requirements tools.
- Perform software planning activities to ensure, on-time, high-quality software is developed and tested following the divisional and/or enterprise standards.
- Lead, develop, and mentor others in the development of software requirements, logical architecture, and best practices.

What Skills You Need:
- 5 or more years of experience in gathering, writing, and reviewing engineering requirements.
- 5 or more years of exposure in developing embedded applications using C, C++, Matlab Simulink.
- 5 or more years of demonstrated expertise working on complex distributed systems and network communication.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for working in a team environment.
- Ability to read electrical and electronic schematic diagrams.
- Ability to work in a self-directed mode, and as part of a team.
What Makes You Stand Out:
- Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders, such as electrical/mechanical disciplines, customers, customer/dealer support personnel, and technical publication authors.
- Familiarity with SAE J1939, ethernet, LIN, or other vehicle network standards.
- Model-based software development (MBSD) or software development in C, C++, C#, or scripting programming languages.
- Experience with real-time operating systems.
- Off-Road vehicle experience to include design and/or operation.
- Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering or MIT/CalTech certificate completion.
- Experience using a formal software development process (such as Agile, EVO, waterfall, etc.).
Education:
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
